Hello everyone! Below are the things that we worked on in the past week and notable events in the coming week.
1. Quality Control
Quality control checks were conducted up until the original launch date. Since ProtoHeads are assembled by hand, there were bound to be a few big mistakes to rectify. The time we built in for checking and correcting all of the ProtoHeads proved to be just sufficient enough for major errors to be corrected. This pushed our upload later than originally expected.
2. Upload Issues
We began uploading the ProtoHeads on November 9th, which unfortunately coincided with a DDoS attack on the Solana network. This greatly slowed down verification of our NFTs. Solana reportedly never went down, but in practice, it certainly seemed that way. At one point, it seemed like 5 Sol suddenly vanished from our wallets without any trace. We were fortunate enough to recover most of that amount today.
3. Mint Postponement
We want to make sure everything goes smoothly for both ourselves and our community. However, the stalled upload and the Solana network’s inability to process any transactions regardless made the situation very uncertain. There was no way to know when Solana would verify our collection or even be able to effectively process your transactions. We continued to explore other avenues to salvage the launch through the night into the next morning. However, we were forced to postpone it at approximately 12:00 UTC. A new date and time will be set as the situation improves.
4. Continued Preparations
Through the weekend, we were forced to wait and see if our upload would be processed. Unfortunately, only a few images were uploaded (without metadata) to unknown locations. With the Solana network showing no sign of improvement, we were forced to wait until Monday before we could try again. That being said, we instead focused our efforts more into advertising and community engagement. Be sure to follow all of our social media accounts to get the latest!
5. Situational Improvements
Monday proved to be a good day for us. We contacted support and were able to get most of our funds back for those NFTs that weren’t uploaded. With this development, we now no longer have to wait on an upload that may or may not be processed to locations we may or may not find. We have rebooted the process of uploading the NFTs and configuring the candy machine to mint them. Our test launch proved to us the effectiveness of our mint site. Thanks to all who minted a BetaHead, we are able to reduce the development time considerably. If you have not gotten your hands on a BetaHead or you want to grow your collection, visit https://magiceden.io/marketplace/betaheads to get one (or more!).
6. ProtoHeads Stories
ProtoHeads Stories continued to be posted through last week. The backstories of each of our sneak peeks was revealed on our website at https://www.robotheads.io/protoheads-stories. If you have not already, go take a quick look!
We are glad to announce that we have officially joined Instagram! Go follow us at https://www.instagram.com/robotheadsnft/ (@robotheadsnft) to stay up to date! The social media challenges with be updated to reflect the new account.
Due to the Solana network issues, we cannot schedule anything with certainty at this time. This section will be updated when we are able to do so. To get the latest information, see our social media accounts and our Discord server.
